Project Information
- Client Location: Middle East
- Industry: Industrial Port & Bulk Material Handling
- Equipment Supplied: 25-Ton Double Girder Grab Bucket Overhead Crane
- Application: Bulk Cargo Unloading & Material Transfer Operations
A port operator in the Middle East recently partnered with Weihua Group to upgrade its bulk material handling system.
The customer needed a more reliable crane solution for unloading mixed granular materials in a demanding outdoor environment. However, standard crane configurations could not fully match the operating conditions at the site.
High ambient temperatures, airborne dust, and continuous unloading cycles created additional pressure on both the mechanical structure and electrical system. At the same time, the customer wanted more accurate grab control to reduce material spillage and improve unloading efficiency.
After reviewing the application requirements, Weihua engineers developed a customized 25-ton double-girder overhead crane equipped with a motorized clamshell grab.

Designed for Harsh Port Operating Conditions
Bulk material handling environments often place higher demands on crane reliability and long-term operating stability.
For this project, the crane needed to operate continuously in temperatures reaching 50°C. Therefore, Weihua upgraded several key components to improve performance under high-temperature and high-dust conditions.
The engineering team optimized the crane with:
- Heat-resistant cable insulation for stable electrical performance
- Sealed motor housings to reduce dust intrusion
- Reinforced grab jaws with wear-resistant liners for abrasive materials
- Variable-frequency drives for smoother grab movement and positioning
- Anti-sway control functions for more stable handling cycles
- Optional remote-control operation for safer work in dusty areas
Because the customer handles different bulk materials every day, grab precision also played an important role in the project.
Weihua adjusted the grab opening and closing system to improve control response during unloading operations. As a result, operators can reduce unnecessary material loss and complete handling tasks more efficiently.
Factory Acceptance Testing Completed Before Shipment
Before export delivery, Weihua carried out a full factory acceptance test at the production facility.
The testing process lasted three days, while the customer’s technical team joined remotely through a live video connection.
During the inspection process, Weihua engineers completed:
- No-load operation testing
- 100% static load holding tests
- 110% dynamic overload testing
- Repeated grab operation simulations under material resistance conditions
Meanwhile, engineers monitored motor temperature rise, brake response performance, and grab sealing efficiency throughout the testing process.
According to the final inspection data, all operating parameters met the agreed technical requirements.
After testing, Weihua prepared CE compliance documents, inspection reports, and bilingual operation manuals for export delivery.
Prepared for Overseas Installation and Operation
To simplify overseas transportation, Weihua divided the crane into modular sections for container shipment.
In addition, the packing team prepared detailed markings and packing lists to help the customer complete on-site assembly more efficiently after delivery.
Weihua’s technical service team also remains available for remote installation guidance and commissioning support.
At the same time, the company supplied a localized spare parts package to help the customer reduce future maintenance downtime.
Customized Grab Crane Solutions for Bulk Material Handling
Today, many port operators and industrial terminals are paying closer attention to operating reliability, maintenance efficiency, and long-term equipment durability.
For bulk handling applications, crane performance depends not only on lifting capacity, but also on how well the equipment adapts to real operating conditions.
Projects like this demonstrate how customized engineering solutions can improve unloading efficiency and reduce operating pressure in demanding environments.
Weihua continues to provide grab bucket crane solutions, overhead cranes, and bulk material handling systems for industrial customers, ports, logistics terminals, and processing facilities across global markets.
