Project Information
- Project Location: Penang, Malaysia
- Industry: New Energy Battery Manufacturing
- Equipment Supplied: Weihua KBK-I 0.5 Ton Modular Crane System
- Application: Precision Material Handling for Battery Component Production Lines
As Southeast Asia’s battery manufacturing industry continues to grow, more factories are focusing on production efficiency, cleaner workshop environments, and stable material handling systems.
Recently, Weihua Group completed a KBK modular crane project for a battery component workshop in Penang, Malaysia.
The customer needed a lifting solution for lightweight and high-frequency handling tasks inside the production area. At the same time, the workshop required precise positioning, low operating noise, and clean operation.
Previously, workers relied on manual handling and traditional single-girder cranes. However, rising production demand gradually slowed workflow efficiency inside the workshop.
After reviewing the factory layout and assembly process, Weihua engineers recommended a customized KBK-I modular crane system for the battery production line.
Designed for Precision Handling
Battery production workshops place different demands on lifting equipment compared with traditional heavy industries.
In this environment, smooth movement, positioning accuracy, and clean operation matter more than large lifting capacity.
For this project, Weihua configured the crane system with a 6-meter track span and an 8-meter suspension length. The system combines German-standard KBK aluminum alloy rails, an electric hoist, and wireless remote-control operation.
To meet the workshop’s environmental standards, Weihua applied dust-free surface treatment and IP55 protection to the complete system. Engineers also followed ISO 4301 standards during the design process.
Malaysia’s climate also influenced the equipment configuration. Therefore, Weihua adjusted the system for stable operation in temperatures up to 35°C and humidity levels reaching 85%.

Faster Installation with Less Structural Pressure
The customer wanted to avoid large structural modifications inside the existing factory building.
Traditional crane systems often require additional steel reinforcement. In many cases, installation also takes longer and interrupts production schedules.
To reduce installation time, Weihua adopted a modular bolt-connected structure. As a result, the installation team completed the entire project within three days.
The modular design also eliminated the need for large-scale on-site welding.
In addition, the lightweight KBK aluminum rail system reduced pressure on the workshop support beams. Each span weighs less than 150 kg, which helped the customer avoid unnecessary structural reinforcement costs.
Because of this approach, the factory resumed normal production much faster.
Clean and Quiet Operation for Battery Workshops
Battery manufacturers usually maintain stricter environmental standards than conventional factories.
For this reason, the customer paid close attention to operating noise and workshop cleanliness during equipment selection.
During daily operation, the crane system maintains noise levels below 58 dB. Consequently, operators work in a quieter and more comfortable production environment.
At the same time, the oil-free and dust-free operating characteristics help the workshop maintain cleaner production conditions.
The crane system also provides positioning accuracy within ±2 mm. Operators can now complete loading and unloading tasks more efficiently during component assembly.
According to feedback from the customer, the new system improved material handling efficiency by nearly four times.
After the first installation entered stable operation, the customer ordered three additional KBK systems for workshop expansion.
Flexible Solutions for Modern Manufacturing
Today, more manufacturers are choosing KBK modular crane systems for electronics production, battery plants, precision assembly workshops, and automated production lines.
Compared with traditional overhead cranes, modular systems offer greater flexibility and lower structural requirements. In addition, factories can expand or adjust the system more easily in the future.
For manufacturers operating in limited spaces or clean production environments, lightweight modular crane systems often provide a more practical long-term solution.
As global demand for new energy products continues to rise, Weihua keeps supporting battery manufacturers and precision production facilities with customized lifting solutions designed for real operating conditions.
