Case Study | 5-Ton Pillar Jib Crane for Automotive Welding Workshop in Kazakhstan

Project Information

  • Project Location: Kazakhstan
  • Industry: Automotive Parts Manufacturing
  • Equipment Supplied: Weihua BZ Type 5-Ton Pillar Jib Crane
  • Application: Welding Workshop, Material Handling, and Component Transfer

An automotive parts manufacturer in Kazakhstan recently upgraded its new welding workshop with a customized 5-ton pillar jib crane from Weihua Group.

The customer needed a lifting solution for high-frequency handling across multiple welding stations. At the same time, the workshop required full coverage within a limited operating area and stable performance during extremely cold winters.

After reviewing the workshop layout and production process, Weihua engineers recommended a BZ-type pillar jib crane designed for flexible short-distance lifting and low-temperature operation.

Flexible 360-Degree Coverage for Welding Operations

The welding workshop handles frequent movement of metal components between assembly stations throughout the day.

To improve workflow efficiency, Weihua configured the jib crane with a 6-meter arm length and full 360-degree rotation capability. This design allows operators to cover multiple work areas with a single lifting system.

Compared with traditional overhead cranes, the pillar-mounted structure offers greater flexibility for localized workstation handling. In addition, the independent column installation does not rely on the workshop’s main steel structure.

Because of this design, the customer avoided additional building reinforcement and reduced installation complexity inside the new workshop.

Stable Operation in Extreme Cold Weather

Low-temperature operation was one of the key requirements for this project.

Winter temperatures in Kazakhstan can drop below -30°C, which creates additional challenges for motors, electrical systems, and lubrication performance.

To ensure stable operation, Weihua equipped the crane with low-temperature protection designed for environments ranging from -35°C to +60°C.

The system also follows FEM 1.001 standards and uses CX-grade anti-corrosion protection together with IP55 dustproof and waterproof sealing.

As a result, the crane maintains reliable startup and smooth operation even under harsh Central Asian winter conditions.

Smooth Handling with Precise Positioning

The customer also required accurate positioning during welding component transfer.

To meet this requirement, Weihua integrated a variable frequency drive system that provides smoother acceleration and deceleration during operation.

The crane achieves positioning accuracy within ±5 mm, which helps operators complete lifting tasks more efficiently and reduces unnecessary material movement during assembly work.

In addition, the system uses an ND wire rope hoist combined with wireless remote control operation. This setup improves both handling flexibility and operator convenience inside the workshop.

Higher Efficiency and Reliable Daily Performance

After the crane entered operation, the customer quickly noticed improvements in production efficiency.

Material transfer between welding stations became faster and more organized. At the same time, operators completed handling tasks with less manual effort compared with previous workflows.

According to customer feedback, workshop handling efficiency increased by approximately three times after installation.

The crane system also maintained stable performance during continuous operation, with a failure rate below 0.1% in daily production use.

Because of the reliable operating results, the customer later continued long-term cooperation with Weihua for additional lifting equipment projects.

Customized Jib Crane Solutions for Manufacturing Workshops

Modern manufacturing workshops often require flexible lifting systems that can adapt to limited space, frequent handling tasks, and different environmental conditions.

Compared with larger overhead crane systems, pillar jib cranes provide a practical solution for localized workstation lifting and short-distance material transfer.

Weihua continues to provide customized jib cranes, workstation lifting systems, and industrial material handling equipment for automotive manufacturing, machinery production, welding workshops, and industrial facilities worldwide.
