Mid-Autumn Festival 2026: A Few Words from Weihua Crane

Company News

The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming.

On September 25, families in China will gather for dinner, open a box of mooncakes, and spend some time together. Some will be at home with their parents and children. Others will be calling family from another city, or even from another country.

It is one of those holidays that makes people think about home.

What Happens on the Night?

There is no fixed way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

A family might have a big dinner. Someone may bring home a box of mooncakes from work. Children may stay outside a little later than usual. After dinner, people often sit together, have some tea, and look at the moon.

That is about it.

The full moon is at the center of the festival. Its round shape has long been connected with family reunion in Chinese culture.

And, of course, there are mooncakes.

Mooncakes Are Part of the Fun

Walk into a supermarket or bakery in China around this time of year, and you will see them everywhere.

There are the traditional ones, with fillings such as lotus seed paste or red bean paste. There are also plenty of newer flavors. Some are sweet, some are savory, and some are probably not what you would expect from a mooncake.

Everyone has a favorite.

People give mooncakes to family, friends, colleagues, and business partners. Often, the gift is less important than the thought behind it.

Not Everyone Will Be at Home

This part of the festival feels familiar to people in many countries.

Not everyone can make it home for a holiday.

A worker may be on a shift. An engineer may be away on a project. Someone living overseas may have no chance to sit around the same table with their family.

So they call.

Maybe it is a five-minute conversation. Maybe it lasts an hour. Either way, hearing from home can make a busy day feel a little different.
